Tomorrow’s set

Live Setup - UC-17 and MaschineI’m thrilled to have so much new, unreleased music to play! Over 40 min of the set will be Nude Photo Music future releases, or tracks by our artists. Additionally, a lot of the tracks that are not by our artists, are remixes or edits. And I will also be doing a lot of remixing on the fly, using effects, looping, and NI Maschine to provide live rhythm programming along with the DJ set.

My original thought was to do this set using Traktor, but the beat clock (timing information) out from Traktor to Maschine was just not tight enough. Things would drift significantly, and it was a lot harder to keep Maschine lined up (much harder than keeping 2 records in sync for a long mix!) with the decks.

So I went back to using Ableton for the set, and it made the idea of doing live rhythm programming along with looping and effects a lot more feasible. I think the requirement for my original idea would be to have two laptops, one dedicated to Maschine, one to Traktor, and sync them up to an external clock reference. Maybe next time!

I’m very proud of the track selection. There’s a lot of material from Darin Marshall and myself, and a few tracks from the other artists. I also have a few tracks that I’m considering releasing, and some future releases that are already in the schedule.

I’ll be recording the show and posting a mix sometime next week. And Portland folks – I hope to see you all there! Please show your support for Nude Photo Music!
